and most recently as the owner of several small companies involvling home repair, farming
consulting and worm cultivation.  Jay is a candidate for the Permaculture Design Course of Mr.
William Mollison of Australia, studying locally at Olamana Gardens in Waimanalo, Oahu.

Jay established Hawaii Worms’ based on his growing concern that waste and pollution are having
an overly detrimental effect on Hawaii’s environment. He sees an opportunity to make significant
change through worm cultivation and personal waste management. In addition, Jay believes we
need to enhance our diets to include locally grown organic vegetables and fruits. Many of our local
residents wish to grow these at home.   His goal is to create a substantial ohana of worm
cultivators and organic home gardeners throughout the State of Hawaii and beyond. Once the
Hawaii Worms’ systems have achieved widespread use, Jay believes the net result will be vastly
reduced waste, an enriched land and a more pristine ocean while improving our personal health
and prosperity.
