Trade Show. This event is the cornerstone venue of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce’s
Kuleana Green Business Program, promoting ethical and socially responsible business practices
and environmental stewardship among every sector of the West Hawai`i economy. The
Conference has seen its attendance rise dramatically to 150 people in 2008, as the public
continues to increase its interest in conscious and ethical purchasing and green products and
services.
Each year, we strive to make this a better event. This year we have two big improvements.
First, we have a nationally renowned keynote speaker, Joel Makower, Chairman and Executive
Editor, Greener World Media. Joel is a well-respected voice on business, the environment, and
the bottom line. As author of the recent book, “Strategies for the Green Economy” and a
strategist on corporate sustainability practices and clean technology, he has helped a wide
range of companies align environmental goals with business strategy. Additional speakers will
include Don Shaffer, CEO of RSF Social Finance and founder of Comet Skateboards, as well as
Mike Kane, founder of national electric car advocacy group Plug In America. Secondly, we have
expanded the trade show for exhibitors to an all day event, open free to the public. This will be
in a separate, but adjacent room to the conference for ease of the exhibitors.
